The Dysfunctional Paper

by Wendy on April 26, 2012

Today, the Dysfunctional Paper, turned 6-months old and proudly welcomed its thirteenth subscriber. (So, watch the fuck out New York Times!) Additionally, thus far, this journalistic gem has also received just under 1000 tweets. (And just for the record, only 180 of those tweets were mine. Mostly, because the official Paper rules clearly show you can only plug yourself once a day. And, I’m nothing if not rule abiding, except, possibly, when my Dead Grandmother simultaneously plugs the Paper from her account too.)

The Paper’s goal is primarily to keep me (and my limited attention span) current. Therefore, I take an abnormal amount of pride ensuring it’s both entertaining and potentially useful every single day.

And it mostly is. Despite the fact, I still don’t know what I’m doing. (Am I a publisher? A curator? Does anyone actually give a shit?)  What I do know is once-a-day, I go through a plethora of posts from my strangely detailed and borderline creepy social-media lists, and try to pick out what’s most amusing. That’s not to say I agree with everything I select. Many times, I don’t. But, my opinion is just that, and it certainly doesn’t make the posts any less interesting, hilarious and/or thought-provoking.

Now, the Paper patriarchs over at Small Rivers select and highlight their favorite Papers on a regular basis. Sadly, The Dysfunctional Paper has yet to win any awards, but this is my blog, so I took the liberty of adding it anyway (see below). Granted, this is a bold move considering it’s probably not as riveting as Jay’s Fabulous Paper or Daily TwitForYou or Climate-Energy Daily, but hey – fingers crossed!
